Interested in what makes our CSA different? Here’s a little about us and what to expect if you join for next season!

Pickup is at the farm in Wilton, just one mile from the center of downtown Wilton and a short drive from many other neighboring towns like Milford, Amherst, Temple and Lyndeborough. The address is 36 Curtis Farm Road, Wilton, NH 03086.

  1. There are two pickup day options both in person on the farm: Wednesdays 4-7pm or Saturdays 10-1.

  2. What if I need to go on vacation? We give our CSA members the option to take up to ONE week of vacation as farm credit! If you opt to use your vacation week, we will credit your account and you may use that money to purchase items at our stand or save it to spend on next year’s CSA if you’d like.

  3. What if I have an unexpected schedule conflict on a pickup day? We ask that folks try as much as possible to stick with their original pick up day, but as long as we have TWO days notice, you can switch your pickup day to the other pick up day that week. If you are unable to let us know in time, we are happy to donate your share to the local food pantry. If you would prefer a friend to take your share for that week, just tell them what to do and we’ll welcome them when they arrive!

4. There is one standard share size with an average weekly share value of $30-$40 of produce with some peak season weeks valuing at well over $50! As always the season is like a bell curve with slightly less in the spring and fall and the most abundance in the height of summer. The size of the share will be quite generous and provide the majority, if not all, the veggies you need for the week as a veggie-loving individual, a culinary-minded couple or a larger family/group who likes veggies with every meal.

5. We decide on the contents of each week’s CSA, but we include several choice categories each week where you get to choose among different options. We also set up a “leave a veggie, take a veggie” trading basket. Set up like an appealing farmstand in our 1850s era barn, you gather your share items yourself and have the opportunity to ask questions, get recipe suggestions, chat with us and your fellow customers and purchase yummy extras (like Tyler’s bread, sweet treats from our dear friend Megan of Myrtle Street Bakes & Blooms Abbot Hill Creamery cheeses, maple, honey, and more!) as you desire.

6. Can I split my share with a friend or family member? Yes, but we ask that all logistics of who is picking up when is kept between you and your share partner. You must inform us of who your share partner is and we ask that we receive one check or one credit card transaction from one of you for the full cost of the share instead of two separate half payments

7. Can I do a payment plan? YES! You have the option to pay just half now and half by June 1, but if you need to break payments into more installments than that, please don’t hesitate to reach out. FOOD ACCESS IS IMPORTANT TO US. Email info@orangedoorfarm.com if you have any questions.

8. Can I pay with SNAP benefits? Short answer - yes it actually makes your CSA half price because we are members of Granite State Market Match! Longer answer, please reach out to us and we can get you on our list of folks interested in using SNAP for the CSA.

9. I really liked the flexibility of the veggie box program and I still think that is a better fit for me. Will you still be offering that? Our veggie box program has been a great success these past two seasons and we do plan to offer a small number of veggie box spots each week as often as is possible. Please keep in mind, though, that the CSA is the best weekly value if you know you want to get veggies from us all summer and in extreme circumstances we may need to skip veggie boxes in order to fulfill our commitment to CSA members if inventory is low on a given week.

So, what is a “CSA” anyway….?

The term “CSA” stands for Community Supported Agriculture. CSA customers, referred to as “shareholders” pay upfront for a full season’s “farm share” for the entire upcoming season and in return we provide you once a week with the best veggies our region has to offer!  By paying for the entire season ahead of time, shareholders are financially supporting the farm operation in its leanest time, thus allowing us to plan and make necessary investments for the next season. You make this financial commitment upfront to the farm and we at Orange Door Farm share in that steadfast commitment to in turn provide you with the most beautiful, interesting and nutritious produce we can grow for you all summer long.

This model was adopted in America based first on Japanese and European models, largely as a response to the disappearance of the small farm. Joining your local CSA is a revolutionary act to re-establish the traditional relationship between you and your local farmer. You bypass middlemen (marketers, long distance shippers), help the environment by decreasing packaging and pollution, and you reap the benefits by receiving and consuming the most fresh, high-quality produce nutritious produce at peak ripeness and freshness all at competitive retail prices!

Share the risk, share the bounty.
